Dear Friends and Supporters,

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news: FreeRent.Org has been selected as one of three finalists in The Same House's Beloved Beacon Voting Campaign! This incredible initiative shines a light on grassroots organizations making a real difference in our community, and we are honored to be recognized for our work in providing housing assistance, financial education, and vital wraparound services to families in Atlanta.

For those of you who know FreeRent.Org, you understand our deep commitment to providing not just immediate relief, but also walking alongside families on their journey from crisis to long-term stability. Data shows that true and lasting success requires a multi-faceted approach and consistent support over time – often 12 months or more. We meet families where they are, offering a lifeline of rental assistance to prevent eviction, coupled with the tools and resources they need to build financial resilience and well-being.

This opportunity through The Same House's Beloved Beacon Campaign is significant. The $30,000 grant would allow us to expand our reach and provide crucial support to 10 families in our city who are facing immense unforeseen challenges like a death in the family, personal injury, loss of car, and more. Imagine the impact: 10 families with the breathing room to stabilize, the knowledge to build financial security, and the support to navigate their journey towards independence.

But we can't do this alone. This campaign is community-driven, and that's where you come in.

Starting April 27th and continuing through May 11th, everyone can vote daily for FreeRent on our voting page: https://thesamehouse.org/actions/freerent-org/

Voting is quick, easy (taking less than 10 seconds!), and every single vote counts.

By casting your daily vote for FreeRent, you are directly investing in the future of Atlanta families. You are saying that housing stability matters, that financial empowerment is possible, and that our community is stronger when everyone has a safe place to call home and the resources to thrive.

We are incredibly grateful to The Same House for this opportunity and for their commitment to uplifting organizations like ours. We are also inspired by the other participating Beacons: Nsoro, and the Center for Black Women’s Wellness.

Please mark your calendars for April 27th – May 11th and join us in this exciting campaign. We'll be sharing the voting link and reminders on our website and social media (@freerentorg).

Help FreeRent shine as a Beacon of hope for Atlanta families!

Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission.

Warmly,
Ashley Stewart

FreeRent’s programs began in Atlanta in 2021 as part of the founding of Roots, an affordable workforce housing REIT. Its purpose was to provide rental assistance to residents in need across Roots properties, helping families stay in their homes. In 2023, the program expanded with the launch of the FreeRent ATL grant to assist families across Atlanta. In 2024, thanks to this growth, FreeRent became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit to advance its vision of building long-term financial stability for renting families
